Q & A

Summary

What is the anti-road pricing petition?

The petition, on a Downing Street website, opposes Government proposals for road charging - making motorists pay to drive on some roads at certain times. The petition claims road pricing, and tracking vehicles is "sinister and wrong" and will place an unfair tax on those who live apart from families, or poorer people who will not be able to meet the monthly costs. It also claims road pricing is already in place through the "high level of taxation on fuel". The petition was put up by Peter Roberts, a member of the Association of British motorists.
