Alstom Continues Fightback

Summary


French heavy-engineering firm Alstom, which recently ceased production at the former Metro-Cammell plant in Birmingham, claims its recovery is well underway.

The company, which axed almost 1,000 shopfloor jobs at the Washwood Heath plant in the city, began to stem a sales slide in the third quarter to the end of December as it posted an eight per cent drop in nine-month turnover.
