Twelve months ago, Ashby was preparing Boro to face Middlesbrough - and earn a headline-grabbing replay - but after a season of under- achievement this term he has resigned. Saturday's FA Trophy defeat to Redditch United, which brought chants of "We want Ashby out' from a section of fans proved the final straw.
