With Crufts magnificent show only a month away at Birmingham's NEC, Royal Mail's latest issue of British postage stamps this week has given us a gentle reminder that man's best friends will be shortly taking centre stage.

They will be showing their breeding and skills in front of packed audiences and millions more admirers on television around the world. "There is no doubt that the dogs put on magnificent displays which provide a fascinating spectacle," said a spokesman for Royal Mail.
