Bittern Numbers Are Booming ; Nature

Summary


Numbers of one of Britain's rarest birds, the bittern, have increased this year, with newly-created habitats helping it fight back against the threat of climate change, the RSPB said yesterday.

The bird - known for its "booming" call - is this year nesting in more sites than any year since 1990 and has been found in the East Anglian Fens for the first time since before the Second World War.
