A few years ago, one of those rather contrived 'shock, horror'- style rows which only seem to occur in the United Kingdom erupted over the alleged propensity of some British firms to sanction the payment of bribes to middlemen.
According to the accusers, 'slush fund' cash was disbursed to shady types, no doubt in some shadowy souk or grimy bazaar, in order that companies could win substantial overseas contracts, the effect of which was to secure long-term employment for thousands of workers at home and abroad.See the full content of this document
