These are desperately sad times for Warwickshire supporters of a certain vintage. The appalling murder of Bob Woolmer was bad enough but the massive heart attack suffered by Tom Cartwright robs English cricket of one of its most distinctive coaching talents.

It's a cruel irony that Tom was due some long overdue public recognition of his talents when he was cruelly struck down. He cannot speak now and he will never be the same again.
