Vivaldi wrote 37 chamber cantatas, all for the same basic forces (soprano or countertenor plus harpsichord/cello continuo), and all setting Arcadian verse describing love that is absent, betrayed or reluctant.
A significant feature of his writing for this courtly genre was Vivaldi's ability to convey words and emotion in the music, so it is disappointing that this package provides neither text nor translation, limiting the CD's appeal for anyone who's not a fluent Italian-speaker.See the full content of this document
