Football: Bristol Challenge Too Tempting for Hinton ; Third Division

Summary

Craig Hinton says the challenge of proving himself with potentially one of the biggest clubs in the Third Division convinced him to leave Kidderminster Harriers to join Bristol Rovers. The 26- year-old defender rejected a two-year deal from manager Jan Molby to yesterday sign a two-year contract with Ian Atkins' Pirates.

It brings to an end a six-year stay for the Lichfield-based centre-back or full-back, who was a member of Kidderminster's Conference title-winning line-up in 2000. While Rovers have made a financially better offer, Hinton also says he felt the time was right for a change. 'I could have stayed at Kidderminster but I didn't want sit down in two years' time and regret giving up the chance to join a club as big as Bristol Rovers,' said Hinton.
