Dear Editor, - In response to your article on the effects of last year's devastating tornado in Sparkbrook last July, I would like to praise the officers of Birmingham City Council who were "on site" in the devastated areas within ten minutes of the event, and remained there over several days.
Their immediate work was spent co-ordinating emergency safety works to buildings' the evacuation, sheltering and re-housing of residents' provision of advice to house occupiers who were not covered by insurance and the provision of welfare services and benefits advice. A major area of work was the "cleaning up" of the areas that were affected in order that as many residents as possible could return to their homes and businesses re-open.See the full content of this document
