While MI5 kept tabs on famed socialist writer George Orwell for more than two decades they did not believe he was involved with mainstream Communism, records revealed today.
MI5 even went as far as challenging a report from Scotland Yard's Special Branch which labelled the Animal Farm author as having "advanced Communist views", the file released by the National Archives showed.See the full content of this document
