Hopes that house-builders might be starting to share in the pick- up elsewhere in the British economy went back on hold yesterday when an authoritative survey showed house-building activity shrinking at a faster pace last month.
But morale in the construction industry generally is now stronger than at any time since April 2007, according to the purchasing managers' index for construction, compiled by Markit and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.See the full content of this document
