A "cautiously optimistic" outlook despite uncertainty in the global economy has not held back hotelier Millennium & Copthorne which shrugged off suggestions yesterday that current global economic troubles would put off travellers.

But underlining its limited optimism the group, which has Copthorne hotels in Paradise Circus, Birmingham, and at the Waterfront, Dudley, said it had pounds 1 billion to spend on deals.
