Summary


The leader of Luton council yesterday dismissed the town's new title of 'crappiest' in the country as 'a load of nonsense'. The Bedfordshire town known for its airport, Vauxhall cars and some of the ugliest architecture in the land has been voted top in the latest list of most awful places in Britain.

But some residents of Luton have rallied round the town, immortalised in a 1977 Campari ad featuring Lorraine Chase.
