Dear Editor, I just wanted to write in and relay my experience of an extended stay in Birmingham's new Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

I chose to travel from London to be treated at the hospital under the care of Sir Keith Porter and Group Captain Ian Sargeant because of the complicated leg surgery I was facing and their exceptional skills in this area. This culminated in me having a major operation last week and a stay in hospital of five days.
