Ashley Giles received a strong vote of confidence from England captain Michael Vaughan on the eve of the Trent Bridge Test against New Zealand.
Asked if the Warwickshire spinner's confidence had taken a dip, Vaughan said: 'Not as far as I am aware. He is a key member of our team and when the ball spins he can be a big threat. Remember he was our leading bowler in Sri Lanka but did not bowl much in the West Indies. 'Also I thought he did a great job at Lord's with that unbroken 35-over spell in the second innings. Not much was said or written about that but he picked up three good wickets and enabled Marcus Trescothick to use the other bowlers differently in an attacking mode.
