A Midlands fertility expert has called on the Government to make good on its promise to wipe out the IVF postcode lottery faced by thousands of would-be parents.

Dr Gillian Lockwood, medical director of Midland Fertility Services based in Aldridge, Walsall, spoke out as the Department of Health vowed to "standardise" eligibility criteria nationally, in a move to demolish "baby boundaries" in different parts of the UK.

Patients across the country have found differing levels of provision can leave them waiting for years for a single cycle of fertility treatment, which can be detrimental to a woman's fertility as she grows older.
