For most businesses London is the place where it all happens ... the centre of gravity, the only place to be - especially so in publishing. All the big names are based there - Faber and Penguin. The buyers for the big bookstores - Waterstone's and Borders - they're all there.

And of course all the literary editors of the Guardian, Times and the Independent are in London. Why would they be anywhere else?
