Dutch Ease Bird Flu Policy

Summary


The Dutch Agriculture Minister has eased an order confining all commercial poultry indoors, saying the measure intended to prevent an outbreak of bird flu will now only apply to farms highly exposed to wild waterfowl.

Last month Cees Veerman ordered all farms to keep birds indoors, following reports from Russia that a strain of bird flu is moving west with migrating wild birds and might reach Western Europe.
