Summary


September 1969 and John Lennon is sitting in Apple's Saville Row offices when the phone rings. On the line is John Brower, promoter of the upcoming Rock & Roll Revival Festival being held in Toronto's 20,000 seater Varsity Stadium. He's pre-sold a paltry 2000 tickets and only a Beatle can save him.

They round up ex-Manfred Mann bass guitarist Klaus Voormann and drummer Alan White. Getting hold of Eric Clapton is more difficult, but the resourceful Brower reminds the reluctant guitarist of the $20,000 loss the promoter suffered putting on the previous month's Blind Faith show and Clapton capitulates. The band's rehearsal amounts to establishing on the flight over whether they should do the Elvis Presley or Carl Perkins version of Blue Suede Shoes.
