November 11, 2007, will bring with it the biggest changes to the rail network around the West Midlands since privatisation more than a decade ago.

Go-Via will inherit most of the West Midlands' local services previously operated by Central Trains. Arriva will be taking on a new franchise consisting of the majority of the Virgin Cross Country network and some Central Trains long-distance services. Both operators will inherit a buoyant market with growing passenger numbers.
