It is good news that Birmingham has three new conservation areas protecting the city's Victorian and Edwardian heritage.
But will the regulations restricting unsympathetic development actually be enforced? Earlier this year city council planning officials were forced into the highly embarrassing position of abandoning the Bordesley Green Ideal Village Conservation Area after admitting that so many people had been allowed to get away with adding modern additions to their homes in the shape of plastic window frames and roof extensions that it was no longer feasible to try to impose the regulations.See the full content of this document
