Innocent people from ethnic minorities are nearly three times more likely than whites to have their DNA samples on the national database, it was claimed yesterday.

The Liberal Democrats released an analysis of figures which showed 23 per cent of people whose details had been archived after being arrested but never charged or convicted were from ethnic minorities.
