Dear Editor, In his letter "Proud? Brown &Co should be ashamed" (Post, Oct 1), Douglas J Wathen might have added to his list how Labour's manifesto promise of a referendum on the Lisbon treaty was reneged on and we were insulted with a patently false explanation.

Having treated us so badly on such a serious matter how can anyone, however they view the EU, ever trust Mr. Brown and any of his associates again? My apologies if I missed it, but I have not seen any reports of an apology for this from Labour's conference.
