Worcestershire's lack of strike bowling was evident for long periods yesterday as Essex batted confidently for the entire day but, not for the first time in this match, the visitors showed admirable battling qualities to cling on to the slimmest chance of victory today.

Imran Arif and Gareth Andrew took four wickets between them in the final session to help set up the tantalising finale and, should the remaining tailender be mopped up with minimal damage incurred, Worcestershire will be left chasing a target of roughly 350 to win.
