Steve Bruce is convinced that his reassembled Birmingham City side are that bit closer to knitting into a true Premiership force.

A much improved second half showing at fourth-placed Bolton Wanderers earned Blues their second Premiership draw in a week. It was their most encouraging performance this season. And, although weakened by the huge loss of last term's top scorer Mikael Forssell, Bruce is now looking to his team to start challenging - just in time for their next two daunting home games against Newcastle United, the boyhood heroes he turned down, and his old club Manchester United.
