Midland forests should be given heritage forest status to ensure they cannot be sold off under Government plans to offload 258,000 hectares currently run by the Forestry Commission, according to MPs.
They have launched campaigns to safeguard Cannock Chase in Staffordshire and Wyre Forest in Worcestershire, which, if designated heritage forests, would mean they could be handed over to charitable trusts - but not be sold.See the full content of this document
