A giant 25 ft phoenix went up in flames last night as a beacon of hope for the Black Country's bid for pounds 50 million of lottery cash.
Four hundred pupils from five schools throughout Sand well and Walsall watched the ceremony at Barr Beacon as the finishing touches were put to the phoenix, designed and built by local artist Ron Thompson.See the full content of this document
