City regulator the Financial Services Authority (FSA) this week dealt a blow to a government-sponsored plan to tackle Britain's savings crisis. It announced on Thursday that it had recommended the exclusion, for now, of complex with-profits, or 'smoothed investments', savings products from the scheme.
The government wanted the with-profits products to be included in the new mass-market savings plan, set to be introduced next April.See the full content of this document
