A Garland for Presteigne owes its existence to George Vass, the enterprising, indefatigable and refreshingly unstuffy artistic director of the Presteigne Festival.

Taking his cue from A Garland for the Queen, a song collection by ten composers written to celebrate Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 (itself inspired by The Triumphs of Oriana from Elizabeth I's reign) Vass asked composers with Presteigne links to compile an album of songs for the Festival's 21st anniversary.
