Amid all the transfer activity and speculation at The Hawthorns this summer, the arrival of Hungarian captain Zoltan Gera last month almost went unnoticed. Few West Bromwich Albion supporters had ever heard of Gera when manager Gary Megson paid pounds 1.5 million to Hungarian club Ferencvaros for his services.

The 25-year-old was unveiled at Albion on the same day as Nigerian striker Kanu and the former Arsenal player was very much the centre of attention.
