Homes Forecast to 'Flatline' in 2008 ; House Prices

The average cost of residential property in the UK fell by 0.7 per cent during the past month - but in the West Midlands it was more than two per cent - as the early onset of the winter sales slump forced homeowners to drop their asking prices, figures showed today.

The fall during the four weeks to November 10 knocked about pounds 1,656 off the average cost of a home in England and Wales, reducing prices to pounds 239,986, according to property website Rightmove.
