Honda Profits Are Up but Net Earnings Fall Back

Honda yesterday reported a better than expected 24 per cent rise in quarterly operating profits.

However, the group, which builds most of the Civics and CRVs it sells in Europe at its highly profitable Swindon plant, saw net earnings for the three months to December fall by 12 per cent to pounds 640 million as rising costs and one-off items took a toll.
