An off-the-cuff remark from his four-yearold grandson led Raymond Briggs to come up with his latest creation, the Puddleman.

Apparently the tot exclaimed that 'they haven't put a puddle in that' when he was out walking. And that was it. Briggs came up with another genius character and wrote a most charming and endearing story to accompany it.
