Pm Launches Defence of 'Divisive' Decision

Summary


Prime Minister Tony Blair passionately defended the war in Iraq today and claimed the twin towers attack of September 11 was a 'revelation' that convinced him of the need to tackle rogue states. He conceded the decision to invade Iraq had been deeply divisive, but pleaded with his critics to understand why he had come to his views.

Mr Blair also repeated calls for reform of the United Nations, to make its Security Council fit for the 21st century.
