Dear Editor, - Being a former press officer for two leading regional theatres, I appreciate how difficult it is to generate media coverage for theatre on a national scale. The Birmingham Rep, as a result of programming challenging work, has succeeded in generating a national debate about the value of theatre and for this it must be congratulated.
I have great sympathy with the Rep during this difficult time. I disagree with Birmingham Stage Company's artistic director Neil Forster when he described the Rep as 'cowards.' If this were the case they wouldn't have programmed the work in the first place.See the full content of this document
