Letter: How Blair and the Rest Sold a Pup Over Iraq War

Summary

Dear Editor, -Over the months, Robin Cook has repeatedly, and correctly, denounced Tony Blair for going to war by 'selling a pup to the public over Saddam's weapons of mass destruction.' (He's still at it: Paul Bremer, the US Vice Consul in Iraq, has had to correct a Blair invention about 'laboratories').

Why just Blair? In the past the British PM was supposed to be the 'Primus inter Pares' - first among equals. So I would focus not only upon Blair for the Iraq disaster but also upon Geoff Hoon, Jack Straw, John Reid, Mike O'Brien, Peter Hain - all of whose faces or voices were hardly absent from our daily tv or radio in the lead up to the illegal and pre-emptive war. (Pre-emptive against what? asks Cook, logically, when Iraq had no WMD).
