Dear Editor, -I write about the Iron Angle article (Post, May 22). The city aims to provide modern efficient value-for-money services. Currently the refuse collection service operated by Birmingham provides a very comprehensive range of collections which are free to domestic households. The collection of garden waste, bulky household items, clinical waste, special waste and even unwanted vehicles is accommodated within these arrangements. These facilities, along with the five Household Recycling Centres, offer the opportunity for residents to dispose of their unwanted items in a responsible, organised way. In many authorities these options are either not provided to the same degree or are provided at a charge.
The quantity of domestic waste produced is increasing year on year at a time when statutory targets for the recycling of waste are being raised.See the full content of this document
