Dear Editor, - Yet again Gordon Brown has delivered a damp squib of a Budget. He tries to spin his election bribes to make us all think he is prudent. But in all of his budgets except one - the 2001 pre-election budget - this Labour government has put up taxes. And in eight years Blair and Brown have increased taxes 66 times.

Now Gordon Brown thinks he can deceive us into believing his spin on hightechnology corridors. And he has stolen the headlines here in Birmingham by naming this city a 'Science City'. Brown is right that high-tech industry is critical for the British economy that must be innovative to compete globally. Whilst the economic development of China and Eastern Europe brings economic stability and peace, they also bring a significant economic threat to jobs in Britain.
