Dear Editor, - It is heartening to see The Birmingham Post of September 14, 2004 accepting that climate change is happening and that we all have to do our bit if we are to stave off the worst effects from climate change.
However, it is not just up to the governments alone. The Birmingham Post in its daily business consumes huge amounts of natural resources, processes them and produces products which are distributed and sold all over the region as well as producing other resources more commonly referred to as waste. In every aspect of these daily activities the business could do far more than it is doing at present to reduce its climate change emissions. There is however one area of great concern from your editorial and that is the easy solution of nuclear power. It seems such an easy step to turn off fossil fuels and turn on nuclear and we all relax and carry on as if nothing has changed. The promoters of nuclear are now saying that with a little bit of extra capacity they will be able to generate all the hydrogen we will need to power the next generation of cars and thus motoring carries on as if nothing has changed.See the full content of this document
