Dear Editor, - What a superb article by Brenda Bullock (Post, Aug 19).
She is stating what so many people are saying - namely that A- levels must get harder, so that universities (of which we have far too many) are not fitted up with students doing soft-option subjects, with no hope of getting a job. We need more training colleges and more apprenticeship places. If I had a child now of A- level age - I would apprentice him, or her, to a plumber or carpenter etc and in a few years they would be very well off and not in debt to the tune of thousands of pounds. Why can't the government leave education to the teaching profession and our health to the medical profession?See the full content of this document
