Dear Editor, The idea that the rebuilding of New Street will solve travellers' problems is well highlighted in the Post's report on the "meltdown" of the West Coast main line in eight/nine years (Rail route "has less than ten years left", Nov 22). The two tracks between Coventry and Wolverhampton are always going to be a problem. This is not easily overcome, but the other route to London between Snowhill and Marylebone used to have four tracks and in some cases even bridges exist with that capacity.
Why are we still arguing from the city, or even Midland, point of view, since it is a national necessity to ensure national systems work and have capacity.See the full content of this document
