Summary
Dear Editor, - Recently, my wife and I, and a large party of friends, were in Benidorm. A couple of days after our arrival most of us were disturbed to learn of the imminent arrival at our hotel, and its twin next door, of a group of footballers and their supporters from Birmingham - some 70-80 strong. In the event that turned out to be a conservative figure, the eventual force exceeding 100. You can imagine the trepidation of a party of pensioners at this awesome prospect. Particularly as the dreaded group called themselves 'The Rat Pack'.
We had no need to worry. Without exception they were the most courteous and considerate bunch of men (of all ages) that anyone could wish to meet. Although they shifted most of the booze in Benidorm, some returning to the hotels the worst for wear in the wee small hours of the morning, not one of them raised his voice to another and every consideration was shown to other holidaymakers during the four-night stay of the 'Pack'. I witnessed their return on two consecutive nights, speaking to many of them, and they were all gentlemen (if somewhat tipsy).See the full content of this document
