Summary
Dear Editor, - I found it quite extraordinary to hear the Sudanese Ambassador to the UK expressing his concern that the widespread use of the potentially carcegenic dye SUDAN-1was in danger of 'besmirching the good name of his country'. May I suggest that the Government of Sudan has already achieved this themselves by their lack of action in protecting theindigenous population of Darfur.
To quote from a letter I have recently received from the Sudan Unit of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office concerning the situation in Darfur: 'We have made it clear to the Government of Sudan that they bear the primary responsibility for security in Darfur...... they have not done enough to end the climate ofimpunity which still prevails in Darfur.'See the full content of this document
