Ofsted is in danger of allowing weak schools to get away with letting children down because inspectors spend too little time in the classroom, MPs warned yesterday.

The education watchdog has introduced shorter visits, lasting just one day for successful schools, with inspectors observing fewer lessons to reduce the burden on teachers.
