Summary
Despite a "very commendable" financial turnaround which saw the NHS balance its books last year after two years in the red, more than one in five health service organisations remain in deficit, according to a report published today.
The NHS achieved a surplus of pounds 515 million in 2006-07, but there were large variations in performance between different trusts and different parts of the country, the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee found.See the full content of this document
