News that Nanjing is to set up a plant in Oklahoma to produce MG sports cars and undertake R&D has confirmed speculation that has been rumbling in the US for a few months that the Chinese firm was to set up there.

One surprise, though, in the story in yesterday's Birmingham Post was that Nanjing is to set up a greenfield plant and will try to access state aid to produce new cars there. It had previously been rumoured that Nanjing was looking at buying an old GM plant which closed last year.
