Next year's A-Day may seem some way away. But the reality is more daunting for those who will be significantly affected when one of the biggest set of changes in the history of Britain's pension legislation comes into force on 6 April 2006.

Initially the new legislation was to have been effective in April 2005 but the changes needed for mainframe computer systems were considered to be even greater than those needed for the arrival of the new millennium.
