A jilted man who tried to blow up his former girlfriend's house after she told him to leave has been jailed for five years.
Sentencing Mohammed Shafique at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday, Judge Trevor Faber said he started a number of fires at the woman's home, turned on the gas taps on the cooker full on and left the oven door open.
