Midland inventors appear to be losing enthusiasm as applications for patents take a nose dive in the region.
The number of patents granted to businesses and individuals in the West Midlands was 360 in 2003, out of 1,395 applications registered, according to The Patent Office Facts and Figures booklet 2003-2004 published this month.
